The EUSA Travel Soccer Program is offered to those players (and their families) who are seeking to play in more competitive matches against other clubs in NJ (and possibly other states as well). Currently, EUSA’s travel teams participate as members of the Mid-NJ Youth Soccer Association (MNJYSA) League and Eastern Development Program (EDP).
Tryouts and Age Groups
EUSA provides for year round evaluations to join teams. We work on developing our inhouse players and welcome players from other towns. If you are interested in joining our program, simply contact eusa@EdisonUnitedSoccer.com to arrange for a training session with a team to be evaluated.
Once you have received a spot on a team, EUSA does not require annual tryouts to retain your spot. We believe that to be an archaic ritual that is detrimental to the mental well-being of players in their overall development. We review players development every season and provide specific feedback on areas needing improvement. A player's decision to work on their weaknesses will determine their growth within the current team, a higher ranking team, or a lower team.
When and where Travel teams play
Travel soccer teams generally play five (5) games here in Edison, and five (5) games in other towns that are usually within 30-60 minute driving time from the Edison area. These games are generally played on Saturday or Sunday depending on the availability of fields. Matches usually start around 10am and played as late at pm.
Practice, practice, practice
The only way to develop a better‑skilled player is to practice, practice, and practice. Travel teams practice twice a week run by professional trainers who assist the coaching staff. Travel teams also take part in speed & agility & strength training & strength training during the off-seasons. Teams, especially those that are older or play in higher‑skilled flights, may practice more often. The dates and times of all practice sessions are determined by the Club. All travel teams practice 11 months out of the year. Winter indoor training is mandatory for all teams.
Tournaments
As part of your registration fees, travel teams are able to participate in tournament depending on their age group and divisions. These tournaments are a fun way to test every player’s skills against those from a wider geographic area than just the central NJ area. All tournaments must be approved by the Board of Directors. All teams also compete in our annual 3v3 LIVE Tournament held in August.
Fees
The fee for each travel player is inclusive based on their division: Futures, Pre-Academy or Academy. Uniform fees are additional.
Additional Fees
There is an additional fee for uniforms, warmups, jackets, etc. These items only need to be replaced if your child outgrows their clothing or wears thru them.
Commitment & Transfers
All players accepted into the travel program agree to a one year full playing commitment (Fall - Spring). If a player chooses to leave mid-season, they are still required to pay the full travel program fees. No player cards will be released until a player is paid in full with EUSA.
If a player is voluntarily released by an EUSA team, no further payments are due.
